About
1754
In the beginning
A historic home in the Comino Valley is built, complete with a plot of fertile land. This property will eventually become the heart of 27 Winery.
1840s
Native grapes go out of fashion
French grape varieties are introduced to Italy, becoming staples in Italian winemaking. Over time, many indigenous Italian grape varieties are forgotten or overshadowed by these imports — especially in regions like the Comino Valley, which became an early frontier for experimenting with international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbech. In the pursuit of modernity and market appeal, these once-local lands became fertile ground for global trends, often at the expense of native heritage.

Where Time Took Root
Remember the famed house built in 1754 — it becomes Marco’s home, and from that moment, the dream and vision of 27 Winery begins.
Within these ancient walls, a boy was once born who would go on to compete in the Olympics, racing on two wheels with grit and pride.
The house holds a thousand stories — of everyday heroes, whispered memories, and lives lived with quiet intensity.
It is more than a building; it is a vessel of time, and now, the beating heart of 27 Winery.

Native grapes are recognised again
The Lecinaro grape, an ancient varietal native to southeastern Lazio, is officially recognised in the National Register of Grapevine Varieties. This rare grape had nearly disappeared but is rediscovered by dedicated viticulturists.

And introduces it to the Comino Valley
With the help of a grape consultant, Marco plants the Lecinaro grape on the property. This marks the start of 27 Winery’s journey to revitalise indigenous Italian winemaking traditions.

The first batch of Abbi Cura
The first harvest of Lecinaro grapes takes place. Marco carefully crafts the inaugural vintage, focusing on creating a wine that balances intensity with elegance, reflective of the region's unique terroir.

The Night the Deer Came
In 2023, we had no production — in a single night, a herd of deer descended upon the vineyard and devoured the entire vintage.
Now, we wait with hope and quiet anticipation for the 2024 harvest, which rests comfortably in terracotta vessels, slowly becoming what it was always meant to be.

Roman Method, Timeless Wine
We’ve invested in new 1,000-litre amphorae —
an ancient method of aging that dates back to the times of Ancient Rome.
There’s something timeless in this way of letting the wine breathe, evolve, and find its soul.
Each amphora shapes the wine in its own way.
Each bottle becomes unique, just like our lives.
